Thermodynamic geometry of the Gaussian core model fluid

چکیده
The three-dimensional Gaussian core model (GCM) for soft-matter systems has repulsive interparticle interaction potential ? ( r ) = ? exp [ ? / ? 2 ] , with the distance between a pair of atoms, and positive constants setting energy length scales, respectively. is mostly soft in character, without typical hard present fluid models. We work out thermodynamic Ricci curvature scalar R GCM, particular attention to sign which, based on previous results, expected be positive/negative microscopic interactions repulsive/attractive. Over most phase space, found positive, values order 3 . However, low densities temperatures, GCM takes character hard-sphere system, have an anomalous negative sign. Such was also earlier inverse power law potentials limit, seems persistent feature

On the thermodynamic properties of the generalized Gaussian core model
We present results of a systematic investigation of the properties of the generalized Gaussian core model of index n. The potential of this system interpolates via the index n between the potential of the Gaussian core model and the penetrable sphere system, thereby varying the steepness of the repulsion. We have used both conventional and self-consistent liquid state theories to calculate the ...
متن کاملMean-field fluid behavior of the gaussian core model
We show that the Gaussian core model of particles interacting via a penetrable repulsive Gaussian potential, first considered by Stillinger [J. Chem. Phys. 65, 3968 (1976)], behaves as a weakly correlated "mean-field fluid" over a surprisingly wide density and temperature range. In the bulk, the structure of the fluid phase is accurately described by the random phase approximation for the direc...

We study the structural and thermodynamic properties of a model of point particles interacting by means of a Gaussian pair potential first introduced by Stillinger [Stillinger F H 1976 J. Chem. Phys. 65 3968]. By employing integral equation theories for the fluid state and comparing with Monte Carlo simulation results, we establish the limits of applicability of various common closures and exam...

متن کاملThermodynamic and structural properties of the high density Gaussian core model.
We numerically study thermodynamic and structural properties of the one-component Gaussian core model at very high densities. The solid-fluid phase boundary is carefully determined. We find that the density dependence of both the freezing and melting temperatures obey the asymptotic relation, log T(f), log T(m)∝-ρ(2/3), where ρ is the number density, which is consistent with Stillinger's conjec...
